Salling-Ash Counselling Counselling in Old Town, Swindon

About Me. Head Shot

My Work

I love being a therapist. I am passionate about our innate capacity to move through our current difficulties and repair old hurts within a good enough lovingly attuned relationship.
I am fascinated by the science of how our brains and bodies work and how that impacts effective counselling and psychotherapy. Our neurons, hormones, systems and cells in our brains and bodies retain the capacity to grow and change throughout our lives and are "state dependent". This means they change or alter according to our environment and especially our relationships - both our relationships with others and internally with ourselves.
This amazing scientific fact means that counselling and psychotherapy (especially when combined with mindfulness and body awareness) can bring about lasting change at a structural level within our brains and bodies. This relieves us of our suffering allowing us to function more fully in the world.
Although at times this may be a painful and difficult process, it works! I enjoy facilitating this process with my clients.
I am committed to my own happiness, fulfillment and well being as well as my clients and as such have regular supervision and undertake personal therapeutic work.

I am a registered member of the BACP and UKCPand adhere to their codes of ethics. I maintain a personal programme of continued professional development. Currently I am undertaking a training in body based psychotherapeutic work with an emphasis on trauma resolution, PTSD and mindfulness
.
